Thanks to the hard work of working families, union members and allies, a bipartisan bill to reverse the President’s union-busting executive order is getting a vote in Congress.
That’s right: Supporters recently secured the 218 signatures needed—Democrats AND Republicans—to force Congress to vote on the Protect America’s Workforce Act in the next few weeks.
H.R. 2550 is bipartisan legislation that would reverse the Executive Order titled “Exclusions from Federal Labor-Management Relations Programs” which aimed to eliminate collective bargaining rights across multiple federal agencies. Specifically, the order targeted employees in the Departments of Defense, State, Veterans Affairs, Justice, and Energy, as well as certain employees in the Departments of Homeland Security, Treasury, Health and Human Services, Interior, and Agriculture.
In total, the executive order impacted roughly 67% of the federal workforce.
S.2837 is a related Senate measure that would also restore union rights to federal workers affected by the executive order.
This is an all-hands-on-deck moment to help restore collective bargaining rights to more than 1 million federal workers.
Let’s get to work and call our federal elected officials. Here’s what you can do:
